About ISSF EVENTS

International Symposium on a Sustainable Future (ISSF) is an Academic and Business Event of the NEEF focusing on Innovative Research and Action in Sustainable Energy, Environment and Development (SEED) sectors. The ISSF-2021, consisting of an International Conference, an Exhibition and a Training Program, will be organized in Mumbai during January 11-13, 2021. These events are aimed at providing a common platform for academicians, researchers, corporate executives, government officers, policymakers and other stakeholders to exchange viewpoints and find innovative solutions for the SEED. The ISSF-2021 is organized by the National Ecology and Environment Foundation (NEEF) and the Indian Society for Life Cycle Assessment (ISLCA). Event Components

ISSF-2021 Conference:

The Theme of the Conference is "Innovative Solutions for SEED - Sustainable Energy, Environment and Development." It will cover concepts, methodology, case studies, action and advocacy on sustainability aspects of energy and environment sectors. Within its broad themes, among others, following sub-themes and topics will be covered.

  • Problems of Local Ecosystems and Pollution of Air, Water, and Solid Waste and their possible solutions.
  • Issues of Global Importance with particular focus on Greenhouse Gas Emissions and resulting Global Warming and other Climate Changes and their Impacts;
  • Socio-Economic Dimension of Energy and Environment; Natural Resource Accounting; Trade and Environment Linkages;
  • Role of various stake holders in SEED including Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility;
  • Challenges of and Possible Solutions for Pollution Prevention and Control including economic and technological measures; and,
  • Sustainable Production and Consumption and Tools for Assessment of Sustainability including the LCA.

Exhibition on SPPS:

ISSF-2021 events will include an Exhibition on Sustainable Products, Processes and Services (SPPS). Stalls/ booths of various sizes are available for Organizations / Individuals interested in displaying/ sharing their SPPS during the ISSF-2021 events may write to the organizers at issf@neef.in

Training on SPC and TAS:

ISSF-2021 events will also include a Training Program on “Sustainable Production and Consumption (SPC) and Tools for Assessment of Sustainability (TAS),” including Life Cycle Assessment/Management (LCA/LCM). Organizations / Individuals interested in participating in these Training Programs may write to the organizers at issf@neef.in

Among others, following are the intended outcomes of the ISSF events.

  • Networking - ISSF will provide an opportunity for the interaction and networking among individuals and organizations to promote their professional and business interests.

  • Publications - Participants can publish and widely disseminate their efforts through:
    1. Proceedings of ISSF that may contain speeches and presentations
    2. IJSI- An interdisciplinary peer reviewed international journal, that may publish some of the papers presented at the ISSF, and, after review process
    3. Savitarka- An E-Magazine on Development Issues, that may publish speeches and presentations, which have a potential of creating a mass awareness and policy impact

  • Technology Transfer - Software and Technology Developers, Business houses, etc. could promote their products and services in other markets. Capacity Building - Individual and Institutional Experts may contribute to capacity building in various areas of Sustainability.
